…and I LOVE actors.
I started in Casting when I was 18 years old. I grew up adoring theatre and movies, performing as often as I could and nurturing a deep respect for the arts and their life-changing impact. I quickly realized acting wasn’t for me, (I had major audition anxiety! M.A.J.O.R.,) so instead I went searching for a career that allowed me to be witness to those magic moments… when a great performance aligns with beautiful words.
I am utterly passionate about Casting: finding the right person for the role, discovering a new face, rethinking an actor’s “type”, coming up with an out-of-the-box choice for a character, providing access for actors of all shapes/sizes/physical abilities/orientations/colors, etc. Over the years, I have collaborated with some amazingly talented artists on a wide range of projects, from black box theatre productions to major studio features and everything in between. For me, Casting never gets old. I’m continually energized by brilliant scripts and thoughtful, honest actors.
I am equally driven to help actors understand the audition process; assuaging their fears about the people behind the camera. (Remember that terrible audition anxiety I had? I FEEL YOUR PAIN, ACTORS. But there’s no need to be afraid of the people or the process!) I have curated a number of different audition technique classes and consistently work to provide answers to long-burning questions via my blog and social media. (Hey! Follow me!) When I coach, I come at it from a Casting perspective; working with the actor to discover all the right ways to stand out in the room or on tape for that particular role.
After living in LA for 17 years, I’ve recently relocated to the Southeast with my husband and son. (Goodbye tacos, hello barbecue!) I continue working on projects that originate in LA/NY as well as providing regional Casting services in my new market.
